30,000 Opportunity Youth (those age 16-24 neither working nor in school) need your help!
The unemployment rate for young people continues to be at a historic high. Opportunity Youth cost tax payers in our area between $200 - $400 million in lost tax revenues and increased costs of social services annually. We need to connect these youth to jobs, schools and communities. When we engage young people in opportunities that are relevant and rewarding, they prosper and our community grows stronger.
Worksystems and the Portland Development Commission are proposing changes to our co-funded youth employment program to better meet the needs of area young people. We're holding a series of Community Forums to consider new solutions to help address this youth disconnection and unemployment crisis. We invite you to bring your unique perspective to one of these important conversations.
