Due to Worksystems’ Board Meeting schedule, the provisional award and appeal deadline dates that were published in the Request for Proposals have been revised.  The reward results will now be sent by September 8, 2017, and the appeal deadline is September 15, 2017.  Worksystems will assist all current and any new contractors with a smooth and thoughtful transition that considers both participants and program staff. // Read more

Each year, Worksystems provides paid work experiences for roughly 1,000 young people at local employers. For many of them, this is their first job.

Supervisors at the work sites have reported that the cultural divide makes it challenging for them to effectively manage Millennials in the workplace. In response, we commissioned the development of an online training to help supervisors better understand the unique aspects of this generation and provide them with tools to create an inclusive and productive work environment.

Worksystems is one of three metro area Workforce Development Boards implementing an $8.5 million US Department of Labor grant - called ReBoot NW - that will provide training to unemployed veterans and long-term unemployed job seekers in our region who are interested in mid- to high-level careers in IT/Tech and Manufacturing. ReBoot NW is our region’s response to the White House’s Ready to Work Initiative, which is premised on the idea that anyone who is ready to work should be able to find a job that fits their skills or access training to find a better job. // Read more

The Portland Metro area will get an influx of training resources to assist job seekers and incumbent workers at target sector businesses.

The State of Oregon has received a $6.8M National Emergency Grant to support sector work and an estimated $2M will be coming to the Portland area. Worksystems will manage these resources and make them available through WorkSource Portland Metro. // Read more

Worksystems is pleased to announce the investment of $11.3 million to fund workforce development programs and services including occupational training, job placement, college and career preparation, work-based learning, and a variety of skill building and job readiness activities in the City of Portland, Multnomah and Washington counties. // Read more

Worksystems has been awarded a $529,837 National Emergency Grant from the US Department of Labor to assist 150 workers affected by the closure of one of Siltronic Corporation's manufacturing facilities at its plant in NW Portland. Working with a number of state and local partners, Worksystems lead the development of the grant and will administer the resources on behalf of Siltronic and the impacted workers. // Read more

To help us understand the complexity of the workforce development environment in our region, Worksystems commission a resource mapping project to assess the sources of workforce funding and the organizations who administer the resources. This work led to the development of our Aligned Partner Model, an innovative approach to aligning resources amongst organizations serving common customers. // Read more
