The 3rd annual Manufacturing Showcase Day was held on January 9th at Clackamas Community College to raise youth interest in and awareness of the rewarding careers in manufacturing.
Students learned about a variety of jobs and wage rates, toured the college's manufacturing training facility including a virtual welding machine (pictured), and completed hands on projects to get a feel for the nature of the work. The students heard presentations from Sandvik Coromant, Warn Industries and Sunset Manufacturing and participants received Career Related Learning credit towards graduation.
The event was coordinated by the Regional Manufacturing Team, a collaboration of Worksytems, the Workforce Investment Council of Clackamas County, the Tri-County School to Work Consortium, WorkSource, and regional community colleges. The goal is to support regional manufacturers by promoting industry careers to build a pipeline of skilled workers for the industry.
