    With Oregon’s eviction moratorium expiring in less than two months — and Congress stalled on adding rent support to a new COVID-19 bill — governments in the Portland metro area are investing millions of dollars to help thousands of families on the edge of losing their housing.     Worksystems has launched a hotline to provide assistance for English Language Learners who need help filing an Unemployment Insurance claim in their preferred language. Bilingual staff are providing language interpretation services for those needing assistance filing their initial or weekly claim for regular unemployment, PUA, or PEUC). However, they cannot help with questions regarding an open claim and will refer those questions to the Oregon Employment Department.     Our partnership with Meyer Memorial Trust (MMT) has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and selected as a recipient of the 2020 HUD Secretary's Award for Public-Philanthropic Partnerships!     On July 13, Worksystems is launching Work$Ready, a free online job readiness training created in response to the unprecedented need created by COVID to help job seekers prepare virtually to re-enter the workforce. Classes are taught via video-conferencing by experienced instructors and cover topics such as professional presence, resume writing, interview practice and soft skills needed to land and keep a job.
