Do you live on or close to 82nd Avenue? Get trained to work on TriMet’s 82nd Ave. Transit Project!

The 82nd Avenue Community Workforce Training Program provides access to free training for construction and clean energy careers that support the 82nd Ave. Transit Project and others. TriMet is also modernizing their fleet with hydrogen fuel cell buses which offer a clean energy alternative to diesel.

If you live in one of the following zip codes, you may be eligible: 97206, 97213, 97215, 97216, 97218, 97220, 97222, 97266, or 97086.

There are two training pathways available.

  • If you enjoy hands on work, construction jobs let you see the results of your work every day.

To prepare for a career in construction, enroll in pre-apprenticeship training with one of our partners.

In these 8- to 12-week trainings, you’ll explore a range of skilled trades through field trips, guest speakers, hands-on workdays, and trades-specific training.

The 82nd Ave. Community Workforce Training Program offers:

  • Free tuition
  • Earn a certification recognized by registered apprenticeships and employers
  • Receive career coaching to assist with job search and apprenticeship applications
  • Get ongoing employment counseling throughout your entire trades career

  • If you enjoy learning new technology, diesel and maintenance jobs involve working on advanced systems and clean energy vehicles.

Enroll in community college to get your 2-year Diesel Service Associate degree! The skills you learn will prepare you for maintenance and repair roles on hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

The 82nd Ave. Community Workforce Training Program offers:

  • Free tuition
  • Help paying for tools and work clothes
  • Earn an Associate Degree or other industry certification
  • Receive career coaching to explore options, complete training, and transition into a job
