In the Portland-Vancouver metropolitan region in 2012, 20,183 households served by public housing authorities were below 50% median income for this area. Together, with the award of a $5.5 million grant from the US Department of Labor, Worksystems and our partner workforce board and regional housing authorities designed a program to prepare public housing residents for career track employment. By aligning our resources, we are helping move public housing residents towards self-sufficiency.
