CWWC Releases Construction Labor Market Report

Published On: May 20, 2025

The construction industry is a significant and growing force in the Portland-Vancouver Metro Area (PVMA). Since 2016, the sector has added over 21,800 jobs, second only to healthcare, contributing approximately $13.2 billion to the regional GDP in 2024. Projections indicate continued growth, with over 10,400 new jobs expected in the next decade, representing an 11% increase. These are high-paying positions, averaging over $30 per hour, with nearly half of all construction jobs in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties paying $40/hr or more in 2023-2024.

The Columbia-Willamette Workforce Collaborative (CWWC) is a dynamic partnership of the region’s three Workforce Development Boards: Clackamas Workforce Partnership, Workforce SW Washington, and Worksystems. In May 2025, they released a new Construction Labor Market Report, which provides a comprehensive look into:

  • Key employment trends
  • Workforce demographics
  • In-demand occupations
  • Training pipeline insights
  • Opportunities and challenges ahead
