Linking Housing Stability and Workforce Training in Washington County

Earlier this month, Street Roots featured Career Start, a Worksystems-funded program that provides long-term career coaching, job readiness training, and access to scholarships for individuals with housing vouchers, helping them transition to stable employment and independence. The article demonstrates how housing and employment support must work hand-in-hand to change lives.

Pierre Fuqua, pictured below, now has a full time job as a nurse’s aid thanks in part to Career Start services he received from IRCO, our career coach partner.

“The most rewarding thing is being able to take care of my 17-year-old teenager,” Fuqua said. “Because of the circumstances I am in now I can keep my family together.”
