On April 26, we were proud to sponsor and help coordinate “Industry for a Day” – an immersion experience for area teachers, school counselors and education leaders that provides hands-on exposure to manufacturing and construction careers at local industrial sites.
Over 200 educators and industry leaders participated in the event and tours were held at 38 regional businesses. School districts from throughout the region sent their teachers and counselors and substitute costs were covered at 100% for each staff who attended.
Career opportunities in manufacturing and construction are abundant throughout the region and provide high-skilled, family-wage jobs. Helping educators gain an understanding of the jobs available in these rewarding industries – and sharing that knowledge with students – will help grow the pipeline of local talent.
