The CLEAR Clinic, a popular and effective way for people to expunge non-violent offenses from their criminal record, as well as access other free or low-cost legal services, is now available in Washington County. The clinic – supported in part by WorkSource Portland Metro — has operated out of Portland Community College’s Cascade Campus in North Portland for several years, and is now offering monthly sessions at PCC’s Willow Creek Center located at 241 S.W. Edgeway Dr. in Hillsboro. The final session of 2023 is scheduled for 2-6 p.m. on Monday, March 11.
A criminal record is something that can haunt a person for a lifetime. Applications for jobs, loans, housing, and many other essential parts of life can be made difficult, if not impossible, by a criminal record. The CLEAR Clinic – “CLEAR” stands for “Community Legal and Educational Access and Referral” –offers people with a history of involvement with the criminal justice system an opportunity to have non-violent offenses purged from their records, opening the way for a future unburdened by past mistakes.
In addition to criminal record expungement, the CLEAR Clinic offers a range of other legal services, including:
- Eviction expungement
- Review for Oregon Senate Bill 819 non-expungable felony relief
- Legal name and gender-marker changes
- DACA renewals, immigration legal screenings, and deportation defense services
- Referrals to other legal services and WorkSource Portland Metro employment and training services
