East County Layoff Transition Resource Fair

Published On: June 25, 2026

Workers navigating a layoff often need more than job leads—they need access to benefits, training, trusted information, and community support. To help meet that need, Worksystems joined partners from WorkSource Portland Metro, Labor’s Community Service Agency, Mt. Hood Community College, and SE Works to host a free Layoff Transition Resource Fair at the new East County Library in Gresham. The event was designed to help workers affected by recent layoffs explore their next steps and connect with resources available across the region.

Throughout the event, attendees received hands-on support with unemployment benefits, health care enrollment, and WorkSource services. Participants also strengthened their resumes through a workshop, explored free training opportunities in clean energy, health care, and early childhood education, and learned how emerging AI tools can support their job search. Professional headshots and one-on-one conversations with workforce experts and community partners provided additional support for workers preparing for their next opportunity.

The fair brought together a wide range of organizations committed to helping people successfully transition between jobs, including United We Heal, 211info, Escape with Velocity, Multnomah County Library, and Mt. Hood Community College’s Small Business Development Center.

Thank you to all of the partners, staff, and volunteers who helped make the event possible—and to the workers who joined us as they take the next step in their careers.
