If you’re looking for a meaningful career in health care, two new training opportunities can help you take the next step—at no cost. Both programs are now open for applications and are designed to remove barriers to education while building strong career pathways in our region.
Start a Career in Emergency Medical Services
Have you ever thought about working in Emergency Medical Services (EMS)? EMS professionals are often the first on the scene in medical emergencies, providing critical care and support when it matters most.
Through Oregon’s Community-Centered EMS Training Pathway, eligible participants can receive free education and hands-on opportunities at participating community colleges, including Portland Community College.
This opportunity is part of the Healthy Oregon Workforce Training Opportunity (HOWTO) grant program, a partnership between the Oregon Health Authority and Oregon Health & Science University, administered under the direction of the Oregon Health Policy Board. The goal is to build a strong, skilled health care workforce while expanding access to good-paying, in-demand careers.

Build Skills Through Peer Worker Training
The 2026 Peer Worker Training Project is now open for applications. This is an incredible opportunity to build skills that can lead to real career pathways in peer support.
This program is:
- Open to adults with lived experience
- Available to residents of Clackamas, Washington, or Multnomah County
We’re proud to partner with The Peer Company and Clackamas Workforce Partnership to bring this training to our region and support a more inclusive health care workforce.
