How Advanced Manufacturing is Spurring Portland’s Economy

Advanced manufacturing is a cornerstone of the Portland-Vancouver metro area’s economy and a source of high-quality jobs for workers across the region. The advanced manufacturing sector includes high tech, metals, machinery and transportation equipment. 

With nearly 100,000 jobs and a payroll of $12 billion, advanced manufacturing accounts for 7% of the area’s private-sector employment and 10% of payroll. In 2023, the region’s advanced manufacturing gross regional product (GRP) was $20.1 billion, an increase of 85% since 2019.
