Launched in 2011 to revitalize Oregon’s economy, WorkEx (formerly Back to Work Oregon) combines relationship-based career coaching and case management with specialized workforce preparation, training, and employment services delivered through the region’s WorkSource Portland Metro (WSPM) centers and their partners.

How it works

Career Coaches from the Aligned Partner Network provide case management and ongoing career coaching. They play a key role in the public workforce system by connecting participants to training opportunities through WSPM that build skills and foster career growth.

WorkEx supports customers with:

  • On-the-job training
  • Paid work experiences

  • Obtaining industry-recognized certifications and licenses

  • Post-secondary education scholarships

WorkEx focuses on breaking down barriers for individuals receiving public assistance, low-income youth and adults, long-term unemployed workers, low-wage earners, justice-involved individuals, veterans, those with educational gaps, and individuals experiencing homelessness.
