Worksystems is a Proud Recipient of a Future Ready Oregon Workforce Ready Grant
Funds will expand the Quick Start to Semiconductor program
We are pleased to announce that Worksystems was awarded $1,000,000 from the Higher Education Coordinating Committee through the latest round of Future Ready Oregon Workforce Ready Grant awards to expand the Quick Start to Semiconductor program in partnership with Portland Community College, Mt. Hood Community College, semiconductor employers, and community-based organizations.
Through the support of this grant, 270 participants will receive training and cost-of-living stipends so they can earn while they learn.
Quick Start is a 10-day training program that breaks down barriers to entry-level semiconductors jobs. It is the first program of its kind in Oregon and the most successful model nationally at creating access to entry-level semiconductors jobs without advanced degrees or previous work experience.
Since its launch in 2022, nearly 400 job seekers have engaged in semiconductor training–76.7% identify as BIPOC or female with 70% of graduates obtaining employment in the semiconductor industry. The Future Ready Oregon funding will build on the success Quick Start has already achieved in Washington County and expand services to Multnomah County.
Enrollment for Quick Start classes in 2025 is open for both counties. Learn more and apply at https://www.pcc.edu/opportunity-center/jobs/semiconductor.
